Q1 takes handicap honours in Heat 1 of 2011 JJ Giltinan

Q1 in the invitation heat

David Witt skippering Queenslander 1 (Q1) finished a creditable 9th over the line and first on handicap in Heat 1 of the 2011 JJ Giltinan.  With a 10-14 kt SE breeze and on Course 3, conditions obviously suited Witty and crew.

However the efforts weren’t to be matched in Heat 2, a slightly lighter ESE and with the race run on Course 2, Q1 was only able to finish 20th on the line and 22nd on handicap.  Thurlow Fisher took the double.

Hopefully Heat 3 will see Q1 bounce back and up the leaderboard with a forecast 15-18kt NE’ly.
