Read more...For the first time in two years, the Brisbane winged 18 Footers will battle it out for the Queensland Championships this weekend. The fleet has been building again this season with six new boats kindly provided by the Australian 18 Footers League, Double Bay. These boats will join the two existing club boats to produce an eight-strong fleet piloted by some of the best sailors in the state.
The action on the water is about as exciting as it gets. From the spectator boat you’ll be treated to the fastest mono hulls on earth reaching break-neck speeds as they fight for position with more than 1000sq feet of sail on their state-of-the-art skiffs.
Feel a part of the team and get close to the action in the rigging park on Saturday from 11am, then join these speed machines on the water from our spectator boat. We have room for 25 passengers. First in best dressed.
Sailing doesn’t get more exciting than this, so come and spend a day on the bay. Everyone is invited for a BBQ and a few drinks (and stories) afterward.
When: 11am Saturday 9th and 16th April. (Two races each day.)
Where: Darling Point Sailing Squadron, Manly
